If you have always wanted to learn how to knit, this is your chance! During Saturday’s afternoon free time at the All Church Retreat, former Belmonter Mary Gresham B. Barr will teach a basic knitting class from 1:00-2:00pm and then again from 3:00-4:00pm, with open question time and troubleshooting in between classes.
Mary has been knitting since 1995 when her parents gifted her a series of classes after the birth of her third child. Mary really enjoys teaching others to knit, and she loves helping other knitters problem solve. The Barrs and their children attended the All Church Retreat for many years, and have now retired to Mentone, Alabama, so this will be a homecoming of sorts.
Please register if you would like to join the knitting class with the following options:
- I will attend one of the Basic Knitting classes and be bringing my own knitting needles and yarn.
- I will attend the Basic Knitting class, and I would like to purchase the beginners kit that includes Lion Brand medium-weight Fisherman’s wool yarn and Clover Bamboo Size 7 needles, in a decorative keepsake bag.
- I will bring my own craft project and enjoy being in the company of other crafters!
Your registration will help Mary prepare your knitting kit and help us prepare the best space needed for the class. A $5 donation to cover cost of materials is appreciated and can be given to Heather Harriss.
Learning how to knit (on the mountain) may be a new meditative skill to enjoy for life! By starting this early in the year, you may finish a scarf in time to donate to the Knitting Tree!
