Executive Director of Church Management
Full-Time Position

Seeking an experienced church administrator to direct the daily operations of a large urban church with direct responsibility for its business and operational affairs. Belmont United Methodist Church in Nashville is a 1400 member church with a $3.3 million budget. (belmontumc.org) Belmont UMC is a community of Christ-followers growing in love of God and neighbor. Primary Responsibilities include:

Financial Management

  • Work with the Finance Committee to manage all church financial matters, including budgeting, financial reporting, cash management, maintaining the general ledger, and periodic audits of the church’s financial systems.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Pastor and Finance Committee to develop and implement the annual pledge campaign and other fundraising activities.
  • Seek loans and grants to support church ministries.
  • Develop and coordinate a plan of long-term donor development to both the church and the Belmont UMC Trust Fund.

Operations Management

  • Support church’s Staff Parish Relations Committee and Senior Pastor in overseeing personnel matters, including personnel policies and procedures, maintenance of personnel records, staff evaluations, disciplinary actions, hiring, onboarding, terminations/separations in compliance with all federal and state labor laws.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Weekday School (WDS). The WDS director reports directly to the Executive Director regarding finance, HR, payroll, building management and other operational matters.
  • Supervise the church administrative staff.
  • Oversee management of the church database and technical infrastructure.
  • Serve as a liaison between the church and the facilities management company.
  • Support the work of Trustees and Properties Committees by overseeing financial agreements, insurance policies, leases, and other contracts.
  • Work collaboratively with clergy and lay leadership to create and implement strategic visions and plans for the ministry of the church.

Membership Secretary/Administrative Assistant
Part Time HR Manager
Part Time Bookkeeper
Part Time Worship and Media Coordinator
SFM Building Supervisor (coordination with facility management company)

Hours: 40+ hours per week; hours are flexible during normal work week; expected to work on site, some remote work possible when appropriate and effective. Requires participation in some evening and weekend meetings.

Qualifications: At least six years prior experience in local church or non-profit management with a record of increasing responsibility. Business or related degree preferred. Prefer candidate with an understanding and appreciation of UMC theology and practice; Commitment to Christian values and Belmont UMC’s vision and mission.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $90,000; commensurate with experience and education.
