Livestream Worship & Tech Coordinator

Part time: 15 - 20 hours per week including in-person work on Sundays. 
Reports to Senior Pastor

The role of  Worship Tech Coordinator is to take the lead in overseeing the livestream and audio visual worship needs of the Church; including leadership of volunteer technical teams for Sunday Morning Services and other worship events needing production and tech support. The right candidate has sufficient technical abilities to help advance our live-stream ministry. 

 Belmont United Methodist Church is a mid-sized, mainline church with a bold commitment to a progressive and inclusive theological witness and high quality traditional worship. Our pastoral staff offer prophetic sermons that speak to Christ's call for the church to be agents of social justice. We offer the sacrament of Holy Communion each week at our 8:15 Chapel Service and monthly at our 10:30 Sanctuary Service. Our music ministry involves all ages through excellent choral, handbell, organ, and other instrumental music.

Duties:

  • Oversee all technical aspects (sound, computer graphics, livestream and video presentation, both live and pre-recorded) of Sunday morning services. Support of Sunday morning worship is the number one priority of this position.

  • Lead our tech team by training, assisting, scheduling and coordinating tech arts volunteers. Work with clergy and lay staff to identify and recruit tech team members.

  • Build a community of tech volunteers rooted in Belmont’s mission of hospitality, nurture, mission and inclusion.

  • Coordinate with worship leaders to ensure appropriate level of media support.

  • Ensure that the tech team records, edits, and uploads audio and video podcasts and video on demand services. Ensure Belmont maintains audio and video archives of worship services.

  • Assist staff and volunteers in mastering AV technology, empowering and equipping our BUMC team to use technology in discipleship and ministry. 

  • Coordinate volunteers and assist with special services such as funerals. 

  • Assess future technology needs and work to implement purchase strategies and timelines in coordination with the Tech task force or committee and the business office.

  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of purchases, technology, passwords, etc.

  • Ability to oversee tech interns. 

  • Perform other duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of current audio, video, livestream, social media technology, lighting and video production systems in a live worship setting.

  • Ability to teach and lead others in regards to online technology

  • Commitment to an inclusive vision of ministry that affirms all people as having sacred worth. 

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous team oriented volunteer experience is a plus.

  • Appreciation of traditional mainline worship 

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Ability to think quickly and react/troubleshoot appropriately in high stress situations

  • Experience or familiarity with: 

    • Running a livestream (via platforms such as Vimeo, Facebook, YouTube)

    • Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 systems, including regular minor maintenance and troubleshooting. Networking knowledge would be a plus. 

    • Video cameras such as pan-tilt zoom cameras, Mevo, iPhone, etc. 

    • Presentation software such asProPresenter or similar programs for creating slides and lower thirds and/or other methods of creating animated titles, displaying lyrics, etc. 

    • Using a digital sound system and editing audio 

    • Video storytelling and editing experience for creating videos for broadcasting during the service (promotions, announcements, etc.)

Duties

Co-teaching in various classrooms with children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years.

Ensure all center policies and state regulations are met.

We offer health, dental and life insurance and pension. Paid leave (12 days) in addition to paid time off for all major holidays, including but not limited to 2 days fall break, 3 days for Thanksgiving break and 2 weeks of winter break in December, and 1 week for spring break.

Work hours are approximately 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. Part-time positions hours can be discussed.
