Livestream Worship & Tech Production Supervisor

Job Title: Livestream Worship & Tech Production Supervisor 
Type: Part time, Weekly average hours approximately 15.
Hours: Guaranteed minimum of six hours per Sunday with weekdays hours determined by need.
Rate: $30 an hour.
Reports to: Senior Pastor

The Livestream Worship & Tech Production Supervisor will primarily oversee the production of inhouse sound and broadcast of our live streaming of worship on Sunday mornings for our 8:10 and 10:30 services. The Production Supervisor will lead and guide our volunteer technical teams and support other discipleship tech needs with hybrid technologies like zoom and some room amplification as needed. The right candidate has sufficient technical abilities to help advance our live-stream ministry.
Belmont United Methodist Church is a mid-sized, mainline church with a bold commitment to a progressive and inclusive theological witness and high quality traditional worship. Our pastoral staff offer prophetic sermons that speak to Christ's call for the church to be agents of social justice. We offer the sacrament of Holy Communion each week at our 8:15 Chapel Service and monthly at our 10:30 Sanctuary Service. Our music ministry involves all ages through excellent choral, handbell, organ, and other instrumental music.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a high quality artful live stream and inhouse AV worship experience.
  • Oversee all technical aspects (sound,computer graphics, livestream and video presentation, both live and pre-recorded) of Sunday morning services. Support of Sunday morning worship is the number one priority of this position.
  • Ensure that the tech team records, edits, and uploads audio and video podcasts and video on demand services. Ensure Belmont maintains audio and video archives of worship services.
  • Schedule and direct tech staff (part time) or interns.
  • Train, assist, schedule and coordinate tech arts volunteers. Work with clergy and lay staff to identify and recruit tech team members to build a community of tech volunteers.
  • Develop basic operational guides for our tech components.
  • Coordinate tech coverage for special services such as Good Friday, Christmas Eve, and Feast of Lights.
  • Coordinate tech coverage for special events like weddings and funerals.
  • Assess future technology needs
  • Responsible for maintaining inventory of purchases, technology, passwords, etc.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve tech issues related to worship services.
Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of current audio, video, livestream, social media technology, lighting and video production systems in a live worship setting.
  • Ability to teach and lead others in regards to online technology.
  • Commitment to an inclusive vision of ministry that affirms all people as having sacred worth.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to oversee tech interns.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to think quickly and react/troubleshoot appropriately in high stress situations.

Experience or familiarity with:Running a livestream (via platforms such as Vimeo, Facebook, YouTube)

  1. Experience with Microsoft Windows 10 systems, including regular minor maintenance and troubleshooting. Networking knowledge would be a plus.
  2. Video cameras such as pan-tilt zoom cameras, Mevo, iPhone, etc.
  3. Presentation software such asProPresenter or similar programs for creating slides and lower thirds and/or other methods of creating animated titles, displaying lyrics, etc.
  4. Using a digital sound system and editing audio.
  5. Video storytelling and editing experience for creating videos for broadcasting during the service (promotions, announcements, etc.)

Director of Worship and Music Ministries

Job Title: Director of Worship and Music Ministries
Type: Full-time, exempt
Hours: 40+ hours per week, including evenings and weekends. Some remote work may be coordinated with the supervisor.
Reports to: Belmont UMC Senior Pastor

Seeking an experienced church musician to lead a well- established music ministry in a vibrant musical community.

Primary Responsibilities include:

Music and Worship Leadership 

  • Promote the spiritual life of the congregation through music ministry. 
  • Plan and lead weekly worship with pastors and other staff for two Sunday services 
  • Provide music for all worship services, weddings and funerals and special seasonal events 
  • Schedule, prepare and rehearse music for adult and youth vocal choirs, adult and youth handbell choirs 
  • Actively recruit new members while nurturing current participants through retreats, try the choir nights, social events, etc. 
  • Plan and implement the Annual Youth Choir Tour 
  • Serve as pianist for worship services as needed in cooperation with the organist and volunteer pianists. 
  • Serve as an integral member of the staff team. Participate in staff meetings, staff worship planning meetings. program ministry staff meetings (1-3 hours weekly) 
  • Serve as organist for worship services as needed in cooperation with the organist, if possible

Administration 

  • Prepare space and equipment for worship services and music rehearsals. 
  • Manage Music Ministry Budget 
  • Serve as curator for all instruments in the church. 
  • Relate to the working committees of the church such as, Worship Committee, Program Ministry Council and Administrative Board. 

Oversight of Music Ministry Staff and volunteer leadership

QualificationsThree to five years prior experience; Master’s degree in music preferred. Prefer candidate with an understanding and appreciation of UMC theology and practice 

Salary Range: $65,000 to $80,000; Commensurate with experience and education.

Children's-Ministry-Intern

Job Title: Children’s Ministry Intern
Type: Part time, non-exempt, temporary position
Hours: 5 hours a week including Sunday morning
Rate: The internship comes with a stipend of $15 an hour.
Reports to: Pastor of Children and Discipleship

This internship is a wonderful opportunity to learn and grow in knowledge and practice of Children’s Ministry. The internship is for approximately 5 hours/week. The most necessary weekly hours are on Sunday from 9:00-11:30 am. The remaining weekly hours are more flexible.

Responsibilities:

Specific weekly duties include:

  • Teaching or assisting Children’s Sunday School,

  • Some record keeping/ roster updating,

  • Coordinate our acolytes and crucifers (including organizing a training),

  • Helping to facilitate children taking an active part in worship,

  • Sending out reminder emails to worship participants each week,

  • Preparing the weekly Children’s newsletter

  • Assisting the Children’s Pastor in planning Children’s Ministry events

  • Assisting in preparation for retreats such as All Church Retreat and Wonderfully Made

Retreat

  • Meet with staff supervisors when needed and maintain good communication

  • Compliance to Belmont UMC’s Safe Sanctuary policy

  • Other tasks may arise as needed

Qualifications:

  • A good knowledge of Canva, Microsoft Office, Google Drive and other related programs is most needed

  • Excellent communication skills..

Working Conditions:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be in an office environment.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets. The person in this position frequently communicates with the public. Must be able to remain in a stationary position 25% of the time. Employee must occasionally lift or move office supplies or other items weighing up to 25 pounds.

Youth Ministry Intern

Job Title: Youth Ministry Intern

TypePart-time, non-exempt

Hours: 10 hours per week, including Sunday mornings (9:15-10:15am), Sunday evenings (5:00-7:30pm), Wednesday evenings (5:00-7:00pm), remote & in person office hours as decided by intern & Director, and other days/times as needed for events/programming. 80% in person, 20% remote

Reports to: Director of Ministries with Young People

This position supports this mission by providing the youth ministry with a passionate intern that provides new ideas, energy, and leadership for our youth ministry while the intern is provided with a safe and encouraging learning environment where they can build skills and explore their vocation.

Responsibilities:

  • Be present and available to lead at Sunday and Wednesday evening gatherings (40%)

  • Assist administratively by helping tailor our curriculum as needed to fit our ministry and student needs and with various components of logistical support for the youth ministry (30%)

  • Be an active part of our youth council helping imagine and implement ministry goals (10%)

  • Be present and help lead events/retreats/service and other ministry programs (5%)

  • Show up to support youth and families at youth events in the community (5%)

  • Weekly mentorship meetings with Director of Ministry with Young People (5%)

  • Other duties and ministry participation as assigned or desired (5%)

Qualifications:

  • Feels a call to the service of young people whether through ministry, non-profit work, social work, counseling, or teaching

  • Willing to develop mentoring relationship with a variety of youth, particularly with our middle school students

  • Willing to be mentored and coached as a partner in ministry to youth

  • Ability to help lead discussions and group activities as a part of a team of adult ministry partners

  • Demonstrating appropriate boundaries in life, relationships, and ministry

  • Basic computer and social media skills
