In an effort to provide greater accessibility in the sanctuary, two pews close to the “Ray’s Corner” accessible entrance have been removed. As part of his Eagle Scout project, Kyle Shepherd along with the help of John Cato and other volunteers, removed the first two rows of the right side of the sanctuary to provide for wheelchair seating.

An Eagle Scout Service Project provides the opportunity for a scout in the Boy Scouts of America to demonstrate leadership of others while performing a project for the benefit of his community. This is the culmination of the scout’s leadership training, and it requires a significant effort on his or her part. The project must benefit an organization. Completing an Eagle Project is a requirement in order for scouts to attain the Eagle Scout rank.

Working with Belmont UMC’s Properties Committee, Kyle and his team have provided a place of inclusion for our members in wheelchairs.
