Each year, the Executive Committee of Belmont UMC’s United Methodist Women (UMW) presents a Special Mission Recognition pin to an individual who has shown continued dedication to mission, exemplifying the motto of UMW: Faith, Hope and Love in Action. This year, the committee is proud to recognize Mary Helen Marigza.
Mary Helen began her work life as a missionary in the Philippines. Over the years she has continued to live into her heart for mission by teaching mission studies, joining mission trips to Mexico where she led children’s activities using locally found materials, leading Belmont’s Multicultural Fellowship, and advocating for the children of Belmont’s Golden Triangle Fellowship by coordinating the collection and distribution of school supplies, and mentoring older youth. In addition, Mary Helen teaches Sunday school, has facilitated the Disciple Bible Study series, and of course is always a willing volunteer in any projects undertaken by UMW. As well as being a member of Belmont’s Phoebe Circle and UMW Executive Committee, Mary Helen also serves at both the district and conference levels.
It is with great pleasure we recognize Mary Helen Marigza!
