Belmont UMC's Outreach Committee is thrilled to share news that gifts of an additional $13,500 have been given for the Mama Lynn Center in East Congo! That is on top of the $64,000 raised through our Christmas Miracle Offering in December.

These additional gifts will allow the Mama Lynn Center, which provides care and support for victims of sexual violence, to buy more sewing machines and train women in employable skills.

The Mama Lynn Center expansion, to which we contributed, will be dedicated in July. Belmonter Bill Lovell is assisting a TN/KY Conference team that is planning to go to Kindu to take part in the dedication. The team will include retired UM pastor Randy Cooper (who addressed our congregation in worship last December), Brigitte and her husband Neils French, Rob and Amy Martin, and Junie Ngonge, a young Congolese woman working for The Upper Room who is fluent in Swahili and French. The team will join Dr. Marie Claire (Mama Lynn Center director) and her husband Bishop Gabriel Unda Yemba for a joyous dedication.
