How are we to have hope and know how to live in the midst of our very challenging cultural moment?
The kingdom—or kin-dom—of God offers a different way of seeing the world, one another, and even Scripture, helping us live faithfully here and now. This class invites participants to explore how Jesus teaches about the kin-dom of God in the Gospel of Mark. Together, we’ll seek to uncover new dimensions of God’s work in the world and how we can join in that work.
The kin-dom of God is not only something we can experience as we strive to live faithfully in difficult times—it’s also a lens through which we can read the Bible. It orients us toward God, the world, and one another in ways that transform how we see. The subversive, ever-present reality of the kin-dom of God—often appearing in unexpected ways—offers us hope as we follow the way of Christ in our present cultural moment.
The Kin-dom of God: A Lens for Seeing the Bible and the World is a three-week class that all are welcome to join. It will be taught by Hunter Wade and will meet in room 124 and on Zoom from 5:30–6:30pm on Sundays, November 9, 16, and 23. This class is part of Discipleship Pathways, a new framework for helping our church community continue growing in love of God and neighbor.
