We are pleased to share that Hunter Wade will be the new director of the Belmont University Wesley Foundation. Belmont, Vanderbilt, Fisk, and UT Southern are all modeling new campus ministry that nests campus ministry inside local churches. She will be nested within and an employee of Belmont UMC. We are delighted to welcome Hunter before the first day of classes at Belmont University. Hunter immediately began meeting with Belmont Wesley students, Belmont UMC leaders, and Belmont University ministries to lay plans for a great academic year! We are thankful for Rev. David Hollis who has been so helpful throughout this transition. Hunter and Belmont Wesley students greeted a steady stream of freshmen as part of Belmont’s orientation and campus ministry fair, along with Belmont and Glencliff UMCs.

Hunter graduated last summer with her Master of Divinity from Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduation, she returned to Nashville, a city that has felt like home since she moved here to attend Belmont University for her undergraduate degree. She is an adjunct professor at Belmont University in their School of Theology and Christian Ministry. Hunter is passionate about feminist and womanist theology, queer theology, social justice, and centering the voices and experiences of those the church has historically pushed to the margins. When she is not reading, writing, or teaching, Hunter can usually be found snuggling her Goldendoodle Otis, browsing her favorite bookstore, sharing a table with friends, and drinking coffee. Participating in college ministry is in large part what ignited her passion and calling for ministry and theology. Being able to serve as the Campus Minister/Executive Director of the Wesley Foundation is an incredible honor she is excited to undertake. Hunter can’t wait to get to know the community more and do this work alongside Belmont UMC!
