From fixing loose fence boards to assembling bookcases, installing shelves, replacing toilet flush levers, repairing door latches, installing toilet risers and towel racks, changing hard-to-reach light bulbs, and even assembling and installing a yard trellis, Belmont UMC’s ENCORE volunteers have been busy helping neighbors with small home projects. We are so grateful for these amazing volunteers who generously share their time, skills, and compassion to serve others in our community!

Do you ever need help with tasks like changing a hard-to-reach light bulb, replacing a smoke alarm battery, or hanging a picture? Belmont UMC’s Encore Ministry now offers a “Home Help” service for members aged 60 and over!
At your request, a Belmont volunteer can assist you with various tasks, including:
• hang a picture, mirror, etc.
• replace hard to reach light bulbs
• replace a toilet seat
• put up and take down decorations (Christmas, Easter, etc.)
• replace a battery in a smoke alarm
• install a battery operated smoke alarm, door bell/camera
• replace a dead bolt lock, door latch, screen door closer
• remove, replace, or add a shelf
• patch and repaint nail holes where a picture had been hung
• put together a bookcase, chair, or other item that requires assembly
Please note that this service does not include ongoing maintenance tasks like cleaning, lawn mowing, or window washing, nor tasks requiring a licensed professional, such as electrical, plumbing, or carpentry work.
Getting help is easy! Simply call or text Bart Perkey at 615-613-1915 and share what you need. Bart will assign a volunteer who will contact you, arrange a convenient time, and provide the assistance you requested.
