Belmont UMC’s annual Feast of Lights will be held Sunday, December 10, at 6:00pm in the sanctuary. This event has become one of the favorite rituals of the Advent season for our church community. The service follows the order of the traditional lessons and carols conceived in the late nineteenth century which proclaims the Christmas story through a special sequence of readings, prayers, and music.

The Feast of Lights is led by Belmont UMC's Music Ministry and features the Sanctuary Choir, Open Door Singers, and Chapel Choir accompanied by organ and an orchestra of strings, flutes, and percussion. The Carillon Ringers, one of our bell choirs, will also offer music of the season.

Framing the music of Advent and Christmas is a candle lighting ceremony which is based upon the Jewish Festival of Lights. The spreading light of candles throughout the darkened sanctuary symbolizes God’s presence among us today.

For over 70 years, the Feast of Lights has continued to be an inspiring service that ushers in the joy and delight of the season. Plan now to attend; preschool child care will be available.
