Last Christmas, Belmonters generously opened their hearts and wallets to a Christmas Miracle Offering for La Placita at Iglesia Metodista Unida Ebenezer (Ebenezer UMC). The vision of La Placita is a gathering place for not only the Spanish-speaking congregation in West Nashville, but also for members of the broader Nashville community.
This vision is being realized thanks to your gifts, which totalled some $41,000. Teens are receiving leadership training on topics like financial literacy. Elementary-aged Ebenezer members are working on literacy as are their parents in weekly English classes. Food needs are being addressed through faith-based partnerships. All of these activities are possible, in part, thanks to Belmont funds that have been allocated toward a professional community developer who is also working to raise money for Ebenezer. In addition, Belmont funds have helped to pay for a part-time staff member to manage child/youth programs and assist Pastor Myriam Cortes in daily activities at the church.
