Pastor Heather receives ESL’s Dot Smith Award

In 2016, Belmont English as a Second Language (ESL) established the Dot Smith Award to honor those who help carry forward our mission of teaching English to Nashville’s immigrant community. Dot Smith, a longtime Belmonter and ESL teacher, believed deeply in welcoming others, making learning joyful, and creating a true sense of belonging.

We’re delighted to share that the 2026 recipient is Pastor Heather Harriss! Like Dot, Heather has a gift for making our students feel safe, seen, and at home. Her genuine care for the program and the people it serves has made a lasting impact.

Please join us in celebrating Heather and thanking her for her faithful support and prayers for Belmont ESL.
