Centennial WDS Task Force

Enabling Motion Approved by Administrative Board on 6/14/26

The WDS Task Force to explore WDS space usage, the implications of any redevelopment or renovation on the WDS, and to assess the mission and facility needs of the WDS. Since the WDS facility spaces and playground make up about 25% of total available square footage we ask this task force to;

● Envision how our WDS might best meet the missional objectives of BUMC in meeting the needs for affordable and high quality childcare in Nashville.
● Explore how we might house or relocate the WDS if we redevelop or renovate the WDS wing.
● Explore whether our current WDS classrooms provide the space needed for a high quality preschool. What are the WDS facility needs?
● Explore if and how the current WDS financial model can be sustainable in its current location (either at present or with renovation) or in another location.
● Explore if the WDS and BUMC would benefit from a separate 501(c)(3) relationship. Could the WDS receive grants and other funding as a separate entity?
● How might the WDS and church better share spaces?
● The task force will begin exploring these questions and offer insights and report to the Campaign Coordination Committee and the Administrative Board
