The call for God’s people to do justice runs throughout scripture and church history. But what do we mean when we say “justice?” And what does justice look like for people who follow a victim of state execution while living in a country with the world’s largest prison population?
Join us Wednesday, October 21, at 6:00pm in room 124 for a conversation with Rahim Buford and Preston Shipp about a justice that heals and is grounded in the ministry of reconciliation.
After serving 26 years in Tennessee prisons, Buford founded Unheard Voices Outreach, which helps incarcerated people and their families navigate parole, clemency, and successful re-entry. Shipp, a former prosecutor with the Tennessee Attorney General’s Office, serves as chief legal counsel for Fair and Just Prosecution, a national network of local prosecutors working to promote equity, compassion, fairness, and fiscal responsibility in the criminal justice system.
Come explore what a more healing, restorative vision of justice might mean for our faith and our communities.
