During the holidays, Belmont UMC outreach contributed $1,100 for Christmas dinners for United Methodist pastors (26), widows (5), and conference staff (12) in Malawi. The pastors, whose salaries are roughly $100 per month, are deeply grateful to the Belmont UMC family for this annual gift, which is one component of our ongoing support.
Rev. Daniel Mhone, the Malawi Conference Superintendent, shared expressions of gratitude upon receiving news of the gift:
“I’m running out of words to express our gratitude. May God continue to bless our brothers and sisters in Christ at Belmont UMC. In Chichewa, we say M’bale wako ndi uyo amakugwira padza panthawi ya yamavuto, which means ‘A brother is one who helps in times of trouble.’ We are so thankful for the Christmas gift.”
“A miracle has happened! Belmont UMC has blessed us with this gift. Let us show our appreciation to the leadership of Belmont.”
“Wow! God bless you for your fighting spirit. We extend our great appreciation to Belmont leadership. They are a true blessing to us.”
“Greatly appreciated is the effort and the gesture by the Belmont Church.”
“Thanks to Belmont UMC leadership. God bless.”
From the Conference staff: “We are so excited that Christmas is finally here! We are truly grateful for the joy and festivities this season brings. We eagerly anticipate enjoying a delicious meal of rice, chicken, and frozy. Thank you so much for the Christmas token, Belmont!”
