When beloved Belmont UMC member Elizabeth “Punky” Smith passed away in 2016, her heirloom baptismal gown was given to her friend and longtime church member Martha Hooper. The stunning two-piece gown has now been shared with Belmont so that other infants may wear it on their baptism day. Former Belmont member and dear friend Mary Barr has lovingly restored the gown to its original beauty.
Families are invited to borrow the “Belmont” baptismal gown for their child’s baptism. The gown appears to fit most infants up to one year old. If your family would like to use it, please contact Amy Cooper, Director of Children’s Ministries, Music, and Families.
