Most of the time, when one of us hits a bump in life, we have a good safety net. Our church community, our friends, our families, and places of employment help care for us when life seems to be unraveling. Unfortunately, not everyone in our city has the robust safety net many of us rest easy knowing is available to us because of relationships and status. Here's a chance to help expand our net!
Our August Communion offering will be focused on Outreach and Advocacy. Not everything we do at Belmont UMC can be carefully planned and put in the budget. Many outreach and advocacy situations arise that need urgent attention and often, resources. Your gift will help support these needs.
In September and October, we have an opportunity to serve 10 families experiencing homelessness through our outreach committee's efforts with the Metro Public School's H.E.R.O. program. Some of the items the families need most desperately are birth certificates for each member of their family ($12 each) and application fees to apartments (ranging from $25-$125).
