Alt: A new kind of Sunday school

Looking for a Sunday school class that embraces faith, wrestles with doubts, and celebrates the beauty of community? Join us for ALT, a new kind of Sunday school— a space for honest conversations, deep questions, and fresh perspectives on what it means to follow Jesus today.

Currently, ALT is reading The Exvangelicals: Loving, Living, and Leaving the White Evangelical Church by NPR national political correspondent Sarah McCammon is part memoir, part investigative journalism, naming and tracing the growing movement of people who have left the white evangelical church they were raised in. McCammon weaves her own story of growing up in a strict 1980s Midwestern evangelical family, where she feared for the souls of her gay grandfather and Muslim friends, together with the stories of others from her generation who have walked away from the faith of their childhood. The book examines what’s driving this generational exodus, from clergy abuse and anti-LGBTQ+ teaching to the evangelical embrace of Donald Trump, and explores what people are building in its place.

Join us on Sunday mornings at 9:00am in room 312. If you’re searching for community, you’ve come to the right place.
