Here’s what’s coming up this week in Sunday school! We’ve got great classes for all ages and interests, and everyone is welcome. Come learn, grow, and connect with us!
ALT class (8:45am in room 223)
Beginning June 15, the ALT class will start Abuelita Faith by Kat Armas—a powerful invitation to rediscover God through the lived experiences and sacred wisdom of women often dismissed by formal theology. Drawing on stories of immigrant grandmothers, street theologians, and everyday saints, Armas weaves together personal narrative, biblical reflection, and liberation theology to show how faith on the margins can transform us all.
We’ll read two chapters a week to keep things accessible for summer travelers. If you miss the reading, don’t worry – we’ll have some cliff notes to keep you up to speed.
ALT is the class where questions are welcome, doubt has a seat, and faith is being reimagined together. If you’re looking for something different this summer—something honest, open-hearted, and rooted in justice—give us a try. All – yes ALL – are welcome. Questions? Contact Eric Patton.
Covenant class (9:00am in room 203/Zoom)
Occasionally, Belmont UMC photographers share their work with us, and there are five classes left in that series. On June 15, John Hartleroad will present his photography series “In the Other Side of Prayers, Seeing Beyond Cancer.” For questions, contact Pam Auble.
Graham Inquirers/Harbison Fellowship/Jesse Rustin (9:00am in room 124)
On June 15, the class will continue their four-week study of the Old Testament prophet Jeremiah.
Often called “the weeping prophet,” Jeremiah grieved Israel’s unfaithfulness to God and neighbor. He warned of God’s judgment in response to social injustice and moral decay. Though his message was not popular—leading to opposition, imprisonment, and personal hardship—Jeremiah remained a persistent voice for faithfulness to God and for doing what is right in human relationships.
Make plans to join us on Sundays, June 8, 15, 22, and 29, at 9:00am in room 124. All are welcome! For questions, contact Jean Kohler.
Simplicity class (9:00am in room 225)
The Simplicity Class is reading Richard Rohr’s book The Tears of Things. On June 15, they will discuss chapter 5. All are welcome, whether or not you are reading the book.

ALT
All | Discussion; Faith, Culture and the Church | Room 223
Leader: Eric Patton
ALT is not your traditional Sunday School class — it is a space for authentic conversations, honest questions, and a faith that meets real life. Whether you are deconstructing, reconstructing, or just figuring it all out, this class is for you. The class fosters open dialogue on faith, culture, and the church. We are a community that welcomes doubt, curiosity, and deep conversations and offers a space for people who feel like
they do not quite fit the “traditional” mold. If you have ever thought, “There has to be another way to do this,” this is your invitation to explore faith differently. Come as you are—no expectations, no perfect answers. We are real people seeking community with each other and a deeper faith.
