For many years, Belmont UMC has been involved in delivering route E for Meal on Wheels(MOW) and Fifty-forward. Because of the over 25 volunteers, route E, which is in the Hillsboro-Belmont area, seniors are served a warm meal every day of the week. The seniors not only enjoy good, healthy food, but the personal delivery allows the volunteer to check in on the recipient to make sure everything is going well. Over 6 years ago, Sally Wright took on the responsibility of recruiting and coordinating Route E volunteers allowing the MOW volunteer coordinator to attend to other routes and other needs of the organization. A volunteer definitely develops a rapport with the clients. Two of our volunteers, Beverly Mintmire and Hatton Hardison, were highlighted in the last MOW newsletter.

Interested in being a volunteer? A volunteer picks up the meal about 10:30 the morning of the delivery along with the route for the day. Delivery typically takes about 1.5 hours. Our route currently has two openings the 2nd Wednesday and 3rd Friday. For more information, contact Lori Pearce.
