Your Lenten Offering will support Tennessee Justice for Our Neighbors (TNJFON). TNJFON began at Belmont UMC as a volunteer-based legal service and has grown into Nashville’s largest nonprofit immigration law office, representing immigrants seeking humanitarian relief. TNJFON also educates the public on immigration and advocates for immigrant rights.

Last year, TNJFON handled over 1,000 cases, presented at 45 educational events, and hosted its first Day on the Hill to advocate for immigrants. As one of 19 affiliates of the Immigration Law and Justice Network, TNJFON is part of a national effort providing legal services through 50 clinics across the U.S.

TNJFON serves survivors of violence and persecution eligible for relief under U.S. immigration laws, including the Violence Against Women Act, asylum law, and protections for victims of serious crimes and trafficking. Since DACA’s enactment, TNJFON has supported over 3,000 DACA applications and renewals, helping prevent deportations and providing work authorization for economic stability.

Since the last election, TNJFON’s phone line has received over 800 calls, with only one staff member available to manage calls, translate for consultations, and provide administrative support. Support from the Lenten Offering will help fund a part-time staff member to meet the growing demand for services.
