In room 120. Few words bring more comfort to many of us than to hear that someone is praying for us. Whether we are facing physical challenges, experiencing spiritual longings, or simply trying to make our way forward in today’s complex world, we often long to know that our names are being lifted up in prayer. Here’s the good news: On Wednesday afternoons at 4:00pm, a group gathers in room 120 to pray for our church, our world, and for specific persons and needs that have been shared with us. Each week we begin with the study of a scripture passage that instructs and inspires us as we focus on prayer. After spending time in meditation and discussion, we name those prayer requests that have been brought to us, as well as our longings for our church, our community, and our world. After a time of silent and spoken prayers, we close with the prayer that our Lord taught his disciples when they said, “Lord, teach us to pray.” Our time of study and prayer ends at 4:45pm, leaving plenty of time for you to join your friends for fellowship and the Midweek meal. An old hymn from my childhood has the following words: “What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer.” Join us!
