TSU Wesley Foundation, Camp Cedar Crest, Hispanic ministries, and Africa University are just a few of the ministries that are supported by Belmont UMC's connectional giving.
On four Sundays, August 18 to September 15, we ask you to make a one-time gift beyond your stewardship pledge to help Belmont UMC change our world and honor our connectional commitments.
You can give online or text BELMONT CHANGE to 73256 to give to Gifts That Change Our World using your text messaging. Standard text message rates do apply.
Sunday, August 18
Don’t ask yourself what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive, and go do that, because what the world needs is people who have come alive. - Howard Thurman
Gifts That Change Our World is all about people coming alive through our Methodist connections. On August 18, Ben Grayer, 2019 Belmont intern, will share how our connectional giving is changing his world. While at Martin Methodist College, Ben participated in Give Ye Them To Eat in Mexico with BUMC. At GYTTE Ben felt God’s pull toward ministry, especially with Hispanic persons. Ben just returned from training in Cambodia with the General Board of Global Ministries in preparation for his two years as a Mission Fellow in El Salvador. Your connectional giving helped God’s call come alive in Ben’s life. Your connectional giving is changing our world.
From August 18 through September 15, we will hear stories of people coming alive in Christ because of your gifts! We will hear from Russell Casteel, Director of Camping Ministry, about how our Conference camps shape lives. Bishop Lyght will tell us about the life changing education in the arts, agriculture, business, economics, education, health sciences, human rights, information technology, governance, peace, leadership, theology, math, and social sciences offered through Africa University. Finally, Michele Morton, TSU Wesley Foundation Director, will share how she engages in the lives of college students. Your giving helps so many others come alive in Christ!
During Gifts That Change Our World, we are asking you to consider a gift above your regular giving or pledge to support our connectional commitments. The Tennessee Conference CFA, chaired by our own John Pearce, has embraced the term “connectional commitment” as a more precise replacement for the term “apportionments”. No matter the term, Gifts That Change Our World reminds us that we are connected to a larger Methodist good work. Belmont includes connectional giving in our budget, but our pledges don’t cover our full connectional commitment.
Come let us celebrate and give to Gifts That Change Our World and reach our $35,000 goal. To give your gift and change our world, you can give online, text BELMONT CHANGE to 73256 using your text messaging (standard text message rates do apply), or simply drop your gift marked Gifts That Change the World in the offering plate.
