Remembering and Becoming, November 1
October 11 - Prescriptive prayers and practices (Psalm 23, Philippians 4:1-9) Paul affirms Euodia and Syntyche as coworkers while acknowledging their conflict and calling for peace. For prayer is not a magical panaceaic to bring otherworldly peace but a rooted way of being.
October 18 - The higher cost of restorative worship (Psalm 96:1-13) Psalm 96 tells us how authentic worship is a deep heart and life realigning encounter in which we give ourselves over to the wonder and holiness of our Creator. We ascribe honor, give glory, and offer sacrifices. Worship can be consumptive or occur with commitment. The offering of ourselves to God, as Christ does in the garden is essential to “your will be done.”
October 25 - Held together with holiness, ethics and love (Leviticus 19:1-2, 15-18, Matthew 22:34-40)
What binds our lives together into purpose, beauty, and significance? What is the ribbon on faith? A commitment to holiness these are found in the ethical treatment of others.
November 1 - All Saints: Remember who you are and who went before you (1 John 3:1-3, Matthew 5:1-12)
