Belmont UMC'S 40th All-Church Retreat will take place September 28, 29, and 30 at Beersheba Springs Assembly.

The focus of our learning will be “Growing in Love of God and Neighbor Through Listening.”

Every Sunday in worship we are reminded, “Belmont UMC is a community of Christ-followers growing in the love of God and neighbor.” How will we grow active in God’s love? An active church—a church coming alive to God, alive to one another, alive to the village and world—is a listening church. Listening closely to God, to one another, and to the groans of the world is the path to authentic spirituality and fruitful mission. Come away and listen to that still small voice of God that longs to offer love, guidance, and healing. Join us for a journey of listening afresh for God’s call to become one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all the world.

Our retreat leaders will be Kara Lassen Oliver and Stephen D. Bryant.

Kara Lassen Oliver served as an intern with John Collett and Mozelle Core while attending Vanderbilt Divinity School. Later she served as Youth Pastor and then the entire Oliver family was commissioned by Belmont UMC to serve as Volunteers in Mission with the United Methodist Church in Malawi. Now she works at the Upper Room, supporting international publishing and cultivating authors from central conferences.

Stephen D. Bryant is editor and publisher for The Upper Room. His vision of small groups as an essential setting for spiritual formation, along with his experience in the contemplative life and in local churches provided the inspiration for the Companions in Christ series. His commitment has been lived out leading the Friendship Sunday School class, here at Belmont, for over 20 years.

Join us as together we continue our tradition of nurture, bonding, and spiritual growth in the beautiful mountains of Beersheba Springs.
