Toiletry items needed
Small bars of soap, miniature bottles of shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion are needed for our upcoming winter shelter program for the homeless. We also need toothbrushes, toothpaste, and disposable razors. Place them in the box marked for Room in the Inn located in the rear entrance area of the the church.
Volunteer sign-ups are now being received for Belmont UMC’s 2017-2018 Room In The Inn shelter program on Friday nights, November through March. Overnight hosts, meal preparers and servers, laundry helpers, setup helpers, and bus drivers are needed. Groups, Sunday school classes, and individuals are encouraged to call, text, or email Bart Perkey (615-613-1915) to reserve a Friday. No experience needed. Be part of this important and rewarding ministry!
Belmont UMC is one of several hundred churches in the Nashville area that provides a safe, warm place for homeless persons to stay overnight one night each week from November through March and receive three meals (dinner, breakfast, and a sack lunch). This ministry is provided in association with the Room In The Inn program developed and conducted by the Campus for Human Development, a non-profit organization founded by Father Charles Strobel.
RITI at Belmont is conducted under the guidance of the Homeless Ministries Team. This team establishes the guidelines and organizes and secures the basic supplies needed for the ministry.
