Ministry in Appalacia
The Red Bird Mission collection box has a new look and a new location. Look for the red bird on a wooden box in the elevator area behind the Iris Room. It can hold lots of labels, so bring them in. The Red Bird Mission in Beverly, KY, has been changing the lives of low-income residents of Appalachian Kentucky since 1921. This Methodist mission provides a K-12 Christian school, medical and dental clinics, a pharmacy, ministries to the elderly and families, economic opportunity, and home repair to those in need. The Red Bird Mission has touched the lives of many Belmont members.
We can help in these vital ministries. It is soup season again, and Labels for Education translate to money for Red Bird! Please save the UPC code with the little scholar or pencil attached from the following products: specially marked varieties of Campbell’s condensed soup and Spaghetti-Os, Campbell’s microwavable soups and supper bakes meal kits, all V8 Soups and V8 Splash juices, all Campbell’s select harvest soups, Prego Italian sauces, and Swanson broths and stocks.
General Mills, Kimberly Clark, and S. C. Johnson & Son have many products that contain Box Tops for Education. These provide cash for fuel for school buses for class trips. Last year Red Bird received over $27,000 in cash from this program. Please shop and clip with Red Bird in mind, and help this UMC mission!
