Potluck lunch to honor Mexico missionary
Are you curious about what is happening to our friends in Mexico? Step behind the headlines, come to the Community Center during the Sunday school hour on November 8 and hear firsthand from Belmont?s own missionary, Cherie White. She will share the story of her work in Mexico City, where for seventeen years she has been academic dean at the Methodist seminary. Bring a covered dish, stay for lunch, and hear about current affairs in Cherie?s adopted country.
Cherie White is the daughter of missionaries, David and Mary Ellen White. She was born in Chile and grew up in Cuba. She is married to the Rev. Jose Luis Velazco, a retired Presbyterian pastor. Cherie is a graduate of Scarritt College and is in the final stages of earning her D.Min degree in international feminist theology.
For twenty years Belmont has helped pay Cherie?s salary. Come on November 8 to hear from Cherie and to show your support for her in this important work. The potluck lunch is sponsored by the United Methodist Women.
