Children’s Ministry at Belmont - Living into our baptismal vows, we establish connections among family, church, and the spiritual formation of our children. We explore how our homes can be places of rest and celebration, of meaning and deep connection, of creativity and acceptance, of real commitment and spontaneous laughter.  Young and old, we journey together, learning again and again that we are children of God.

Nursery and Childcare at Belmont

Nursery Care
We provide a nursery staffed by trained childcare workers for children from age 6 weeks up to 3 years.  Children age 3 by September 1 begin in our Sunday School Program.

Our regular Sunday nursery hours are: 8:15 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
Our regular Wednesday night nursery hours are: 5:45 p.m.-9:00 p.m.

Childcare
Childcare is available by prior arrangement for children grade 6 and younger whose parents or guardians are attending meetings, classes or other events at the church.  Contact Linny Jesse, our childcare coordinator at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Our nursery is a place where each child is received into a nurturing, warm, and inviting environment. Dedicated, CPR/First Aid trained, and caring staff serve along with parent volunteers as role models and provide care for most worship services, as well as for many of the ongoing activities on our church.

Our Nursery rooms are located on the first floor, rooms 111 and 115.  Numbered labels and name tags alert workers to allergies and special needs and provide safety in knowing that our babies and toddlers are picked up by their parents or guardians.

On Pentecost we will be celebrating the journey of confirmation. Nine sixth graders have been participating in confirmation: Ben Pearce, Cole Kennon, Ryan Flatt, John Smalley, Walden Ferrell, Sarah Grace Kennady, Amy Dusabe, Grace Whitehouse, and Ellie Smith. They have been shepherded through this journey by Martha and Richard Hooper. On Saturday, May 18, there will be a celebration dinner and on May 19 some will choose to confirm the vows that were made for them at their baptism. Please keep our confirmands in your prayers.

Summer is just around the corner! Go online to register for our Music and Mission Camp.

Be a part of our unique and astounding Children’s Ministry. People are often heard to lament that Sunday morning is the most segregated time of the week. At Belmont UMC, we are boldly stepping out and blazing a new path. Our multicultural children’s Sunday school provides faith formation and Christian education for about 200 children—half of these children were born here in the USA and half have come from the area sometimes referred to as the Golden Triangle: Burma, Thailand, and Laos. On a typical Sunday morning, you can see clothes from other cultures, hear God praised in different languages, and discover anew the power of what joins us together—the saving love of Jesus Christ. Pray and consider being a part of our teaching team for summer Sunday school. There are many ways to serve. Contact Heather Harriss, Children’s Pastor, for more information.

Be in prayer for our nine confirmands. They have spent the last five months meeting together learning more about what it means to commit to a life of discipleship. We will celebrate their confirmation on May 19, during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.

The secret to happiness is…do something new everyday! This summer plan to be a part of children’s Sunday school. You can sign up to teach or to shepherd by contacting Heather Harriss at 383-0832 x 27 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Children's Church

Each Sunday, children ages 3-5 are invited to follow the light of Christ upstairs for children’s church. Our children’s church order of worship was created by Jennifer Nimmo and Bruce Williams. Jennifer and her husband, David, regularly lead our children in learning more about the Bible and who we are as children of God. Each Sunday we make a simple craft that relates to our Bible story, and we hear the Bible story from a puppet friend. If you are interested in being a part of this fun and meaningful ministry contact Heather Harriss, Children’s Pastor, at 383-0832, ext. 27. Photo by Heather Harriss
