Continuing response to the Nashville flood

images

Although many people are getting their lives back together after suffering devastating loss in the May flood, some people who lost homes, jobs,

incomes, virtually everything, are still struggling. You were so very generous in your response to the request for financial assistance and gift cards for people who are related to Belmont UMC. Now we are asking you to reach beyond our doors to help feed hungry individuals and families. The first wave of generous response has passed, but the needs continue, so Belmont will be collecting nonperishable food items to donate to the Second Harvest Food Bank during the month of August.

Contributions may be made in three ways: 1. Collect nonperishable food items and put them in the Second Harvest  collection bins at the church. Most needed items are peanut butter, canned tuna, canned fruits, rice, beans, macaroni and cheese, and canned vegetables, or other canned meats. 2. Donate money. For every $1 donated, Second Harvest Food Bank is able to provide 4 meals to feed hungry men, women, and children. You can make your check to Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle TN. 3. Contribute through the “virtual food drive.” Go to www.secondharvestmidtn.org. and click on “Donate” and then on “Donate to Our Virtual Food Drive.”
