Chris earned a B.A. in History, Religious Studies, and American Culture Studies from Washington University in 2007. After hearing a call to ministry during college, he attended Duke Divinity School, where he received an M.Div with a concentration in Christian Education in 2010.
His work experience includes being a counselor at Camp Rockmont, an all-boys Christian summer camp where he specialized in lacrosse and weight training. Camp Rockmont is a place where he first became aware of the gifts God had graciously given to him for youth ministry. While a student at Duke Divinity School, he had the opportunity to serve two rural congregations as an intern. After graduating from Duke Divinity, he began serving at Cookeville First UMC as the Coordinator of Children and Youth Discipleship.
Chris is married to Erica Allen, a Turner Scholar at Vanderbilt Divinity School. They have the sweetest dog named Cadbury!
He enjoys watching college football and is an avid SEC fan. If you see him looking rather sad on a Sunday morning, it may very well be because his beloved Florida Gators lost the day before. Chris is a history nerd with a special interest in the early Republic and modern American history. He also enjoys reading and watching movies. Chris has a new found love of Twitter and invites you to follow him at DChrisAllen. Running and staying physically fit is a passion of his.
