COVENANT CLASS The Covenant Class is an open, welcoming, and inclusive class. We believe that God loves all people and we are all created in the image of God. We share values of love for "family" (including our biological family as well as family as defined by close, caring relationships). We value respect and tolerance for others while working toward justice for the disenfranchised, responsibility toward the global community, and the search for truth. As we strive to follow the example of Jesus, we welcome all people to our class regardless of age, race, gender, ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, culture, socio-economic status, political position, disability, or any other defining characteristics. We have members of 35 years, and we also welcome newcomers throughout the year to the Covenant Class. We thrive on the dialogue and energy created by our diversity, and our different opinions and beliefs. The class participates in topical discussions from guest speakers and speakers drawn from class members. Topics addressed in the class include politics, world issues, local issues, ethics, the history and tradition of Belmont United Methodist Church, the Bible, prayer, and the larger religious community. The class's service project committee recommends and sponsors projects in support of seniors, children, the environment, and the needy. The equally active social committee sponsors events and seasonal parties. For more information about the class, please contact our presidents, Joe and Mary Boyd (boydjoe@aol.com, moboyd@aol.com) or our program chairs, Pam Auble and Mike Engle (pamauble@comcast.net, mikeengle@jis.nashville.org).
